Affiliate Disclosure
VillanovaU is free to read. We pay for it mainly through affiliate commissions: when you click certain links and later sign up with the company behind them, that company may pay us. It costs you nothing extra, and this page explains exactly how it works.
In short
- Some links to courses, programs and tools are affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you sign up.
- Your price does not go up because of our link. In some cases it may be lower.
- We do not show display ads, and we are not paid to write reviews or to pick rankings.
- We are not affiliated with Villanova University or any other university.
How affiliate links work
An affiliate link carries a tracking code. When you click it and then buy or enroll with the company, the company can see that we sent you and may pay us a share of the sale or a fixed fee. You pay the same price you would pay by going to the company directly, and in some cases a promotion tied to our link may give you a better one.
The companies are usually online course platforms, training providers and similar education services. As we sign up with more partners, the list of companies we may earn from will change.
How you can spot them
- Affiliate links on our pages go through a /go/ address on our own domain (for example, villanovau.com/go/…) and then on to the company’s site.
- They carry the tags
sponsoredandnofollow, which tell search engines the link is commercial. - Pages with them include a short note near the link: “We may earn a commission if you sign up, at no cost to you. We are not affiliated with any university.”
Links to official sources, such as a government agency, a certification body or a research paper, are normal links. We do not earn from those.
How this affects what we write
Affiliate income is a conflict of interest, and we say so plainly. Here is how we try to keep it from steering the content:
- We write the guide first and add links after. A page does not exist only to push a product.
- We cover free and low-cost options, and say when a paid course is not needed.
- We say when a provider is the official source, such as an exam body, even if we earn nothing from it.
- We state limits and drawbacks, including cost, time and what a certificate does not guarantee.
- A company cannot pay to change what we say about it. See our editorial policy.
Even so, you should treat our picks as a starting point. Check price, content, reviews and refund terms on the provider’s own site before you pay.
What we do not do
- We do not run display advertising on the site.
- We do not accept payment for placement in a list or ranking.
- We do not invent reviews, ratings or testimonials.
- We do not claim that any course or certificate will get you a job, a raise or a pass.
- We do not imply that we are, or work with, a university.
Other ways we may earn
Over time we may also earn from affiliate programs run through advertising networks, from free review copies or trial access given to us so we can test a product, or from sponsored content. If we do, we will label it clearly on the page and update this section.
If you would rather not use our links
That is fine. You can go straight to a provider’s website by searching for its name. We will not mind, and the information on our pages is still useful. Choose whatever route suits you.
Questions
If you think a link or a page is not clearly disclosed, tell us at contact@villanovau.com and we will fix it. This page is part of our commitment to the disclosure rules of the US Federal Trade Commission and similar regulators elsewhere. For how we handle data from link clicks, see our privacy policy.
